Yaadein - 11 years back

From the title itself you should have got the hint that this is a school and it was 11 years back. Yes this is the class where we guys did our 12th std.

Every year on the republic day we have a Alumni meeting at school. And it was this 26th Jan that we guys made it. Ofcourse karthik, I and Rajsekar used to be a regular alumni. Anees and KArthikeyan made it this time while Raj missed it out. Another special thing about this meeting is, that it is the first time after marriage that we are visiting our school. Karthik and Karthekeyan are still bachelors.

Tagged - Resolution!!!

Tagged by PK

I wanted to write my own resolutions for this year but dint find time and before that I have already been tagged on this topic. Actually speaking I have not taken any serious resolutions any year and even if it was simple I have not been able to follow it up. This time wanted to be serious and follow the following things on a regular basis

  • Get up early
  • Do regular exercise
  • Do meditation 2 times a day
  • Atleast clean up something at home everyday
  • Account everything spent, including house expenses.
But the fact is that i dint follow this even for a single day since the new year. Let me give it a try after writing this blog. Im going to try this for 1 week and if successful then continue till a month. Whether im doing the above or not, I thought let me follow some general advice...
  • Money doesn't create man but it is the man who created money.
  • Live your life as simple as you are.
  • Don't do what others say, just listen to them, but do what makes you feel good.
  • Don't go on brand name; just wear those things in which you feel comfortable.
  • Don't waste your money on unnecessary things; just spend on things that you really need.
  • After all it's your life, then why give others the chance to rule your life.

If you are trying to guess who said these words, it is none other than the Second Richest man in the world Warren Buffet (Thanks to Jack alias Jagadeesh for forwarding me the mail). I would like to share the entire mail, here it is...

There was a one hour interview on CNBC with Warren Buffet, the second richest man who has donated $31 billion to charity. Here are some very interesting aspects of his life:

He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he started too late!

  1. He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers
  2. He still lives in the same small 3-bedroom house in mid-town Omaha , that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a wall or a fence
  3. He drives his own car everywhere and does not have a driver or security people around him.
  4. He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world's largest private jet company.
  5. His company, Berkshire Hathaway, owns 63 companies. He writes only one letter each year to the CEOs of these companies, giving them goals for the year. He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis. He has given his CEO's only two rules. Rule number 1: do not lose any of your share holder's money. Rule number 2: Do not forget rule number 1.
  6. He does not socialize with the high society crowd. His past time after he gets home is to make himself some pop corn and watch Television
  7. Bill Gates, the world's richest man met him for the first time only 5 years ago. Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet. So he had scheduled his meeting only for half hour. But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for ten hours and Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffet
  8. Warren Buffet does not carry a cell phone, nor has a computer on his desk

His advice to young people : "Stay away from credit cards and invest in yourself and Remember

"No one can make you feel inferior without your permission, remember they are no better. "

The Last Thought - Intution

எல்லாம் இருந்தும் ஏதோ ஒன்று இல்லாததுபோல் இருப்பது...
நாம் இறந்தபிறகு இருக்கும் நிலையை நினைப்பததால் தானோ ?

(For those who cannot read in Tamil)
Ellam irunthum etho ondru illathathupol irupathu...
Naam iranthapiragu irukum nilayai ninaipathal thano ?

=================================================
Meaning
=================================================
Takkunnu thoniye oru kavithai thaan what you see above. Ennada ore kolapuraanennu paakureengala ? Let me explain the situation and it will be clear. One guy who has everything in life and who is very happy in life. Suddenly just feels that something is missing. He doesnt know what it is but can sense something missing. (Read first line alone). And the very next day this guy meets with a severe accident and is in his death bed. Few seconds when he gains conscious and when he sees the face of his near and dear ones has a LAST THOUGHT about all and that he is going to miss everyone. He understands that the thought he got a day back was an intution that he is going to miss everyone. ACTUALLY HE IS GOING TO BE MISSING FOR EVER....(Now read the second line and hope it makes sense)

Om Shanti Om

Hey Guysssssssssss!!!

Massive Steam Explosion in Midtown Manhatten

I was in Pfizer office 150 east, 42nd street at the 36th floor. It was around 6 when we heard a huge sound. Owing to the rains in the morning we thought that it was some thunderstorm. It was continous for several minutes and i went to look out through the window. Then saw some huge smoke rising up the air till our floor and it was not quite clear what had happened. I thought that the next building got fire may be. Immediately my client panicked and said take things and run immediately. Within few secs we got the fire alarm in the building asking us to evacuate it as soon as possible. Have gone through this fire alarm exercise couple of times and this time it was real :). Oh man, climbing down 36 floors on the staircase is not that easy. Not knowing what acutally happened everyone started rushing down. It almost took 10-12 mins to climb down. The moment we came out of exit i just looked back to see a huge volcano kind of explosion from the middle of road. I was very close to it, you should have seen the force with which it was pushing things out. My Collegue VijayBaskar was really frightened being his first trip. [There was another adventurous incident while we travelled from chennai to newark. The flight got cancelled in Geneva and we had stay one night there. Will write a seperate blog on that]

Then came to know after some time that the reason was due to an explosion of a 24 inch steam pipe underneath which carries steam, mainly to the Empire State Building for the hot conditioning in winter. As per the latest news (writing this down around 2.45 am in new york, helmsley hotel, 33rd floor) one person confirmed dead and around 20 were injured. I dint see any victim in my own eyes except for few guys with lot of sand, dust, water spilled all over their dresses.

Take a look at this video.
